Telecom giants Jio and Airtel are clashing over DTH license fees. Airtel, backed by Tata Play, wants the fee abolished, aligning DTH with other TV platforms. Jio opposes this, citing DTH’s free spectrum advantage. TRAI recommended reducing the fee to 3% of AGR, eventually phasing it out.
