South Korean investigators on Wednesday arrested impeached President Yoon Suk-yeol in his residence in central Seoul, according to a joint investigation unit.A motorcade was seen leaving the gates of his hillside residence where Yoon has been holed up for weeks behind barbed wire barriers and a small army of personal security guards.Earlier more than 3,000 police officers and anti-corruption investigators had gathered there before dawn, pushing through throngs of Yoon supporters and members of his ruling People Power Party protesting attempts to detain him.Yoon is being arrested over insurrection allegations. His arrest is the first ever for an incumbent South Korean president.Investigators attempted to arrest Yoon in the presidential residence on Jan 3, but it failed as the presidential security service blocked the execution of the arrest warrant.A Seoul court granted the extension of warrant to apprehend Yoon on Jan 7 by issuing the second warrant against the impeached president. n18oc_world n18oc_crux
