Eleven Chinese and Russian military aircraft entered South Korea’s air defence identification zone (ADIZ) on Nov. 29. An ADIZ is a broader area than a country’s airspace in which it tries to control aircraft for security reasons. The incident occurred over a period of four hours, prompting South Korea to launch fighter jets, South Korea’s military said. South Korea’s military had identified the aircraft before they entered the zone and deployed air force jets, it said. The incident happened as Russian Defence Minister arrived in North Korea for an official visit on Nov. 29 amid deepening military cooperation between the two nations.
