US President-elect Donald Trump hosted Argentine President Javier Milei at a gala at his Mar-a-Lago retreat in Florida on November 14. Milei became the first leader to meet Trump following his presidential election victory last week. During the event, Trump praised Milei for his achievements in Argentina, calling his work “incredible” and encouraging him to “make Argentina great again”. The strong rapport between the two leaders is expected to aid Argentina in securing favourable trade deals with the US, according to Wise Capital. Argentina’s country risk index fell to its lowest level since July 2019 on Thursday, reflecting market confidence in the government’s fiscal policies, debt management and economic measures under Milei’s libertarian leadership.
