Assamese, Bengali, Marathi among 5 to get classical language status

The Union cabinet, chaired by PM Narendra Modi, has approved classical language status for Assamese, Bengali, Marathi, Pali, and Prakrit, recognizing their cultural and historical importance. This decision aims to honor and preserve India’s linguistic diversity and rich literary traditions.
