A 42-year-old man in Bengaluru lost Rs 70,000 to a ‘fake traffic challan’ scam after downloading a risky APK file. The victim clicked on a link in a WhatsApp message about a traffic violation and his phone was compromised. Police have registered a case under the Information Technology Act, warning against downloading files from untrusted sources.
