Diwali day of last 6 years seen spike in pollution

Despite a firecracker ban around Diwali since 2017, PM2.5 and sulphur dioxide levels spike significantly due to firework emissions, exacerbating air and noise pollution in Delhi. Last year’s data shows PM2.5 levels soared to 1,985 µg/m³ in Anand Vihar, far exceeding safe standards. Authorities stress strict compliance and broad pollution control measures across sectors.
