Iran provided a written assurance to the Biden administration last month that it would not seek to assassinate then-GOP nominee Donald Trump. The October 14 message was aimed at easing tensions between Tehran and Washington ahead of Trump’s potential return, as per the WSJ. The US sent Iran a “private written warning” in September that Washington would consider an attempt on Trump’s life as an act of war.
