Maoists in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, murdered two former sarpanchs, Suklu Farsa and Sukhram Avalam, for their alleged ties with the BJP. The Maoists left leaflets on the bodies, warning other BJP workers to quit the party or face similar consequences. Eleven BJP and three Congress functionaries have been killed in Bastar division since February 2023. Police are investigating the murders.
