On November 15, AP photographer Hassan Ammar captured dramatic images of a rocket striking an 11-storey residential building in Beirut, followed by a massive explosion. Ammar, who grew up near the building, rushed to the scene after Israel issued a warning targeting the structure. During Lebanon’s civil war, the building was on the front line. Human Rights Watch’s Richard Weir reviewed Ammar’s photos and identified the bomb as a Mk-84 with a JDAM tail kit.
