The US banned all civilian flights to Haiti for a month after three planes near Port-au-Prince were hit by gunfire. The FAA’s move followed a Spirit Airlines jet from Florida being hit by gunfire in Port-au-Prince and rerouting to the Dominican Republic. A flight attendant suffered minor injuries, and images posted online appeared to show several bullet holes inside the plane. Two planes departing Port-au-Prince on Nov 11 were also hit, with bullet holes found during post-flight inspections, according to the airlines. The attack came after PM Alix Didier Fils-Aime was sworn on Nov 11, replacing Garry Conille, who resigned after a power struggle with Haiti’s transitional council.
