West Bengal’s potato farmers and cold storage owners are struggling with a surplus of 4.1 lakh tonnes of potatoes. Wholesale prices have dropped, but retail prices remain high due to middlemen. The government is urged to lift the export ban to neighboring states and consider purchasing the surplus to offer consumers lower prices.
