This deal, part of the CHIPS Act, aims to address national security concerns and reduce reliance on Taiwan for leading-edge chips. Former President Trump criticized the initiative, calling it a bad deal and suggesting tariffs instead. Meanwhile, US officials are also focusing on preventing advanced chip exports to China, citing national security risks.
