Celebrity Deaths 2024: Liam Payne, Donald Sutherland, Maggie Smith, Quincy Jones & Others Who Died

We are once again paying our respects to the entertainers and other notable figures that we lost this year. British singer Liam Payne, who shot to global fame with boy band One Direction, died after falling from a third-floor hotel room balcony on October 16. Quincy Jones, the man known simply as ‘Q’ who worked with musicians ranging from Count Basie to Frank Sinatra and reshaped pop music with his collaborations with Michael Jackson, died on November 3. Maggie Smith, hailed as one of the great actors of stage and screen, died on September 27. She was 89. Donald Sutherland, the actor who charmed and enthralled audiences in films such as ‘Klute,’ ‘Ordinary People’ and the ‘Hunger Games’ films, died on June 20 at the age of 88.
