Russia has suggested deploying missiles in the Asia-Pacific region, including the hypersonic Oreshnik missile, as a countermeasure to US actions, according to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov. Speaking on Nov. 25, Ryabkov confirmed there are no international restrictions preventing such deployment and linked potential moves to US missile systems near Russian territory. He added that Moscow would inform Washington of any missile tests under a 1998 agreement, which included the recent Oreshnik test. Satellite images from Russian Telegram channels have cast doubt on claims of extensive damage in Ukraine’s Dnipro city, where Russia said the Pivdenmash plant was “destroyed” by an Oreshnik missile. Critics, including military analysts, highlighted the facility appeared intact despite Moscow’s assertions. Ukrainian officials have not confirmed significant impacts from the strike. The US Department of Defence is still assessing the attack’s damage with Ukrainian partners. Meanwhile, Dmitry Medvedev remarked that new weapons, including drones, have reshaped modern warfare. Russian spokesperson Maria Zakharova challenged Ukraine’s denial of the attack’s impact, accusing the country of inconsistency. The missile’s deployment could mark a significant escalation in the region. n18oc_crux
