A powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake, with its epicenter in central Myanmar, shook Bangkok at 1:30 pm, causing alarms to go off and prompting evacuations in high-rise buildings. No immediate reports of damage or casualties were available, but Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra held an urgent meeting in response to the temblor. The region remains on alert.
