Sukhbir Singh Badal, undergoing religious penance at the Golden Temple, faced an assassination attempt by Narayan Singh Chaura. Despite security attempts, Chaura fired a shot which was deflected harmlessly by a volunteer’s quick action. Badal, uninjured, remained calm and continued his duties in the face of danger.
