The Union government has removed Amarnath Ramakrishna as ASI director (antiquity) after disagreements over the dating of Keeladi archaeological finds. Ramakrishna’s report suggested the finds were from the 8th century BCE, a claim disputed by the Union culture minister and another ASI director, Hemasagar A Naik, who will now head the antiquities department.
